Sometimes you just need to get new running stuff… There are many reasons why someone would need new running clothes… Worn out, lost a sock, etc.
Monday I decided I needed this top and running skirt because – to put simply – they’re super cute and they’re part of the Marathon line at lululemon. I run marathons so I had to buy them. I had to!
I’m hoping to test them out when I run the 10K Rum Run in late May when I’m home in Oregon.
Yesterday my legs were like jello after my run Monday night and spin class Tuesday morning. Totally worth it though. If you haven’t taken a spin class yet – take one. It’s like going to a club and getting a great workout. The music is always awesome!
Last week’s training went so well! I ran a total of 21.24 miles! My ten mile run on Saturday felt awesome and when I got home I couldn’t believe that ten miles could feel that good and kind of easy. Does that make sense?
The weather has been wonderful here and I’ve been loving running in Central Park. let’s just hope the humidity doesn’t make an appearance this summer. NOW THAT would be a miracle!
This coming weekend Ryan and I are going to Cold Spring so I probably won’t be able to get as many miles in as last week. I have signed up for spin class tomorrow morning (6am! yikes!) and I hope to get in at least three runs. (fingers crossed!)
Side Note: I still have A LOT Easter candy and I don’t know what to do with it besides eat it! I might turn into a chocolate Easter egg!
So yesterday was the last day of my vacation from running/working out. It’s been a great (almost) two week vacation and it’s now time to get back to business.
Last night I was on puppy duty.
This little one loves Ryan so much that all she did was mope around and wait for him by the door!
After my babysitting duties were over I headed home and made some dinner… No gym… And then I wanted ice cream. I decided that since it was the last night of my “vacation” I should celebrate.
This ice cream is delicious!!!! It’s part of Haagen-Dazs limited edition ice cream and let me tell you – they should make this all the time. I almost ate the entire thing! I bet it would be really good with hot fudge on it…
Anyway – Tonight my plan is to run a nice easy three miles and then go to spin class. I’m kind of excited to get back into the swing of things!
I have now almost reached two weeks of not running. I don’t know how this happened! Okay… I kinda do… The Red Rock Half Marathon kicked my butt (literally) and then I was introduced to The Hunger Games. For the past two weeks I’ve been reading them like crazy and I am now on book three. They’re really good! Not intellectual – good – but get out of the world you’re living in – totally get lost in a book good. I love when books take you away like that.
However – I do need to keep up my fitness level! (Half marathon on April 28th!!!)
So. In order to get myself back in the gym I signed myself up for a spinning class tomorrow night. I’m on puppy duty tonight so I’m unsure if I’ll get a run in or not. My little two week vacation from running was kind of nice. When you’re not working out everyday you have a lot of free time! Who knew!?
I love going to bed early. Last night was one of those nights. 8:30pm – lights out. I slept so well and I was up and ready at 6am for spin class. Of course the class was awesome, and with the best music! It was a great way to start the day. My last full day here in the City before heading home to Oregon for Christmas! YES. Did I tell you I’m going to an Ugly Sweater Party on Friday??? I can’t wait!
Another thing that is making super happy today – Ryan and I are going out to dinner tonight. To Go Burger. We’ve never been there, but the menu looks amazing. I can’t wait!!! The waffle bites will be ordered.
I might be able to sneak a run in before dinner. If not, oh well. I just can’t wait to be home!!!
My goal of two spin classes this week is complete!!!
I need to get one more run in and I’ll have completed my goals for this week! (I bet I can get two more runs in!) After meeting up with some friends last night for dinner I went to the gym to do my run. Even though I was a little full of delicious mexican food, I got a good three miles in and was so happy. Running and watching Sex and the City on E!… what could be better?! The time flew by. I love that I was able to have fun with my friends AND get my workout in.
This morning I pulled myself out of bed and headed to spin class #2. Though my legs were a little tired the class was great. I always feel so energized afterwards.
One more thing: I’ve noticed that I will get out of bed in the morning to go to a class that I’ve signed up for 100% of the time but it’s 50/50 when I’m just going to run on the treadmill. Classes are just more motivating for me in the morning.
Do you take exercise classes? I love them! I work harder when I have an instructor yelling at me!
Are you a morning or evening workout person? Both… It really depends on my mood, what the exercise is, and if I’ve gotten enough sleep.
How cute is this workout top!? My friend Sarah sent it to me for my Birthday!
I wore it to spin class last night and loved it. I have a pair of shorts and a tank top from 26.2 Apparel but this tee might have them beat. It’s SOOO soft and comfy.
Spin class: Last night was the hardest spin class I’ve ever been to. EVER. I went with my friend Jackie and we both agreed that it was super hard. Super difficult for us = AWESOME! My legs are still feeling it today!
Tonight I’m crossing my fingers that I can get a run in! Training and being social is hard. I really want to make my goal of running twice and going to spin class twice! One spin class down… three more workouts to cross off the list!
This weekend was so much fun. And no… I didn’t run once… oops.
Sushi date night on Friday night was pretty darn amazing. We ate so much we couldn’t even eat dessert! That’s a first for me.
Saturday, Ryan went hiking so I got to hangout with this cutie:
And then Saturday night we celebrated my friend Elena’s (on the right) 25th birthday!
We all had a blast and it was great to get together with friends from college.
Sunday was a lazy, relaxing day. Brunch, window shopping and walking around Central Park with my friend Jackie (far left in photo above).
And now its Monday. My goal for this week is to run at least twice and to go to two spinning classes. I think that’s a good goal.
Spin class was awesome last night.
But really hard. Why??? Because of two things: 1) Couldn’t really breath because of my cold (I’m feeling pretty good today, though); 2) My legs haven’t been “really” exercising for about two weeks. I haven’t run at all this week! yikes! My legs really felt it last night.
Though it was super difficult I felt great afterwards. It was also nice to have a new friend to workout with! It makes exercising that much better :-)
My Brooks Pure Cadence shoes work well with the spin bike because they are light weight and not as bulky as my other running shoes. If you don’t want/ don’t have the funds to buy bike shoes, minimalist shoes like the Brooks Pure Cadence work great for spin class and running shorter distances/races.
My dinner last night was oatmeal with bananas and granola, and my favorite green juice by NAKED JUICE. After reading that article yesterday I thought, why not practice what you preach!? So I did. And it hit the spot after my class and walking in the cold back to my apartment. I need to start eating breakfast for dinner more often!
Do you eat breakfast for dinner??? Pancakes for dinner might have to happen this weekend!
Anyone else try out the new line of Brooks minimalist shoes?? I love mine!
Being sick and not being able to run, let alone workout, is pretty horrible. I go to bed with good intentions of waking up early and hitting the treadmill, but when the alarm goes off at 6am my body won’t let me get up. This morning I could hardly speak!
However. Once I’m up and start moving (and drinking coffee) I feel better… This morning I made a mental note while waiting for my coffee to brew that I NEED TO REMEMBER THIS.
The hardest part is getting out the door. And that is what’s happening to me. If don’t feel 100% I go back to sleep. Not good. Working out will get my blood pumping and I will feel better! And it’s not like I’m going to workout like crazy – I don’t want to get worse!
Anyway – On a fun note, I have my FIRST spinning class date tomorrow night! With my new friend Heather! I met her through Janae and the blogger meet-ups we went to! I love meeting new fun people who also love to run and workout!
Crumbs meet-up after the marathon!
