It’s 27 degrees here! In Oregon!???

I’m here! In Oregon!

Here I am at 3:30am… YES. AM. Besides getting up super early, everything went smoothly yesterday! Since my flight was SO early no one was at the airport. Starbucks wasn’t even open yet!

Deserted Newark Airport…

Once I landed (at 10am!! Gotta love the time difference) we hit the ground running. Lunch, shopping, dentist, happy hour… I had so much fun with my parents! The place we went for happy hour was awesome! It was Polynesian themed.  Can you tell my Dad did not want to be in the photo?? haha

I loved the fun decor.

The happy hour menu was good too! We had crispy prawns and some kind to crab things.

Oh… And my Mom also surprised me with this beauty…

This shortbread cookie might be the best shortbread I’ve ever had. Grand Central Bakery. I love you.

This morning – since it was 27 degrees out! My Dad and I walked 2.5 miles in the mall. It opens at 6am for the “mall walkers”. Since the pool he swims at is closed to renovations we decided that walking would be good cross training 🙂 And it was fun to window shop!

More Christmas shopping to be done today! I’m off!!! Crossing my fingers I get a run in!

It’s almost here!!!

Another whirlwind weekend…

Friday night frozen yogurt

Saturday morning 10 miler

Saturday night baking and dinner with Ryan – Oh, and I went Christmas shopping… It was pretty crowded everywhere I went. I do not recommend Bloomingdales at this time of year.

Sunday afternoon cookie swap

I’m mostly packed for my trip home to Oregon – I leave Wednesday morning. Now all I have to do is get through two days of work, get a run or two in and be on my merry way.

I hope you all had a great weekend – full of holiday fun!

I made peanut butter reindeer cookies for the cookie swap. What’s your favorite type of cookie???

Anyone else traveling for the holidays???

Things that make me happy

I don’t really have anything new to report. I went to Total Body Conditioning Class on Wednesday – LOVED IT. Tonight I’m going to run and get frozen yogurt and tomorrow I’ll be running 10 miles… and baking cookies. Other than that. nothing. Sooo here are some things that are making me smile.

1. I’ll be in OREGON in less than a week!!! Thank the lord. Sometimes I really can’t stand New York. This morning I saw a car accident and then some old man driving almost hit me.

2.  I’m making these cookies tomorrow for a cookie swap I’m going to on Sunday. Link here.

3. It’s not freezing cold here in New York. Yesterday it was about 40 degrees. Which means there will be no flight delays because of snow! Yipee!!!

4. The web site Pinterest. I love it. Such great ideas. Recipes, quotes/motivation (see below), style. everything.

5. It’s Friday! YES!

After my 20 Miles

After my 20 miler, eating lunch, and waiting for the cable/internet guy to come to our apartment and  install stuff I wasn’t feeling too tired so I decided to treat myself to a leisurely walk to Dean and Deluca for a little snack. I had just gotten the new Runner’s World magazine so I brought that along to read.

While I was there I picked up some great stuff for Saturday night dinner. Ryan and Bailey the puppy were coming over to watch the Oregon game so I thought a nice spread was needed.

Before dinner and the game, we took a trip to Central Park. It was Bailey’s first time! We’re going to have to go a lot more often. She has so much more exploring to do!

She was a happy camper! She was also sporting her Oregon gear!

After our walk and adventures in Central Park it was game time and dinner time!

And Bailey nap time…

Sunday was spent lounging around and that night Ryan and his roommates had a little party and some other people from our college came over. It was really fun!

Monday we went to the Yankee game.

It was really fun and kept me entertained. Since it was a high scoring game there was action on the field so I didn’t get bored.

So, that was my weekend in a nut shell. And yes, I am tired today. And my legs are still sore from Saturday. Thanks for asking 🙂

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway! It’s the last day to enter!!!

Loving the Warm Weather

After work I was super hungry. I had no intention of running. I was starving. I just wanted dinner.

BUT. Instead, knowing that I have a race on Saturday, I decided I had to run.

Another plus – It was super nice outside.

So for the first time, I ran around my neighborhood. Though I live in a nice apartment building some areas around my place are a little scary… But I made it through alive and ran four miles! YEAH! I’m totally ready for the race on Saturday.

It was so nice to be outside and not on the treadmill.

The inside of my right foot was a little sore… this is new… I’m not a fan.

Dinner was delicious! TONS of spinach 🙂 and some porkloin.

For dessert, a nice white wine sent from my parents, the latest dvr’d Glee episode, and maybe a cookie… (Notice all the running reading material)

I’m hoping to run tomorrow, my sore throat has not come back! I totally won that war.

Oh, PS – I’m famous! I was mentioned on Janae’s blog!!! So cool! 🙂

One Step Closer to Portland

This President’s Day has been great!

I slept until 9:30am, had a quick breakfast and then hit the gym. My goal was to run between eight and ten miles.

I RAN TEN!!!!!!

I really wanted to run ten miles in order for my body to be ready for the half-marathon that is coming up (April 2nd). I was also getting a little nervous that I hadn’t gotten up to double-digit mileage with a little over one month of training to go. So, I just told myself “We going to be here for a while, so just enjoy the music…

I would have to say mile five and then mile nine were the hardest. I just pushed through and kept going. I was a sweaty mess by the end, and it definitely looked like I had just run ten miles!

It was great to conquer another milestone. This just makes me one step closer to the Portland Marathon in October!

I’m super happy about my run today and now I’m just going to relax and enjoy my day off!

I think this calls for a dessert celebration of some kind…
