A Nap Will Definitely Happen

Last night Ryan and I had a date night. I had planned ahead and got up early and ran in the morning. I usually need a lot of motivation to work out in the morning. And even if I set three alarms, I usually never make it to the gym. So yesterday morning was a BIG step. I actually got out of bed and went to the gym!

We decided to go to Stand 4 for dinner. It’s a burger and milkshake type of restaurant and I had heard great things. Mostly about the Marshmallow Milkshake…

This bad boy was to die for. There are actual marshmallow pieces in there. Trust me and just go there. Even if you don’t eat dinner. Get a milkshake. They even have boozy ones.

(thank you Ryan for the use of your camera phone)

Tonight I’m running 6 miles outside! The weather is perfect here and I cannot wait to get outside.
I’m hoping this no humidity stays because on Saturday the New York Flyers
(myself included) are pacing the New York Road Runners Official Long Run for the New York City Marathon! I’ll be pacing one of the 8:30 min groups and we’ll be running 11 miles. I’m pretty excited about pacing a group. I’ve never done it before so I’ll be fun to learn something new and meet new people.
The only downside – I have to be at the meeting spot in Central Park at 6:30am. On Saturday… A nap will definitely happen.

Best ever

One of the best Valentine’s Days everrrr!!!!

Ryan got me some of my favorite things!!!! Pirate’s Booty, coffee and chocolate!

We then went to our ALL TIME FAVORITE asian noodle place – Tasty Noodles, in China Town. It’s amazing and I want more noodles right now.

To get to the subway you have to pass the courthouse – Mom – this is where they film Law and Order. I thought you’d appreciate this 🙂

And then it was ice cream time…. So good!!!

One bad thing though… There’s a cupcake shop right next door…

So we had to try some cupcakes too…

Way too much sugar yesterday! Woah. I hope you all had a great  Valentine’s Day!

Back on the treadmill tonight. Just a nice three mile run. And I may go to Total Body Conditioning… Not sure….

So. I ran on Friday… But I didn’t get my 6 miler in. Saturday was way too busy – I would have had to wake up at 5am to run. And Sunday – I slept a lot and watched The Help. I loved being lazy and have anything to do.

However – The Red Rock half is in a month so I need to get back on track.

In between the two birthday parties Ryan and I went to on Saturday, we set aside time to have dinner just the two of us! Saturday night dinner: Homemade pizza! Peppers, onion, pepperoni and cheese. Perfection! Eating this and watching House Hunters, couldn’t get any better!

Can you believe February is here!? Man. Time flies!

Final Countdown

I love going to bed early. Last night was one of those nights. 8:30pm – lights out. I slept so well and I was up and ready at 6am for spin class. Of course the class was awesome, and with the best music! It was a great way to start the day. My last full day here in the City before heading home to Oregon for Christmas! YES. Did I tell you I’m going to an Ugly Sweater Party on Friday??? I can’t wait!

Another thing that is making super happy today – Ryan and I are going out to dinner tonight. To Go Burger. We’ve never been there, but the menu looks amazing. I can’t wait!!! The waffle bites will be ordered.

I might be able to sneak a run in before dinner. If not, oh well. I just can’t wait to be home!!!

It’s almost here!!!

Another whirlwind weekend…

Friday night frozen yogurt

Saturday morning 10 miler

Saturday night baking and dinner with Ryan – Oh, and I went Christmas shopping… It was pretty crowded everywhere I went. I do not recommend Bloomingdales at this time of year.

Sunday afternoon cookie swap

I’m mostly packed for my trip home to Oregon – I leave Wednesday morning. Now all I have to do is get through two days of work, get a run or two in and be on my merry way.

I hope you all had a great weekend – full of holiday fun!

I made peanut butter reindeer cookies for the cookie swap. What’s your favorite type of cookie???

Anyone else traveling for the holidays???

I think it could catch on.

It’s getting to look a lot like Christmas …

On my feet, in all the stores, on TV… BUT the weather here in New York is being a bit strange. It’s warm here. And I think everyone is confused by this. It’s December and it’s almost Christmas and it’s 60 degrees? I’m trying to get in the Christmas spirit but after living here (NY) for so long my body is confused. Shouldn’t I be wearing my huge jacket and UGG boots??

Anyway – I had a great run last night! 5 strong miles, just under a 9 minute pace. What made the run a little difficult: I think NYSC didn’t get the memo that it was warm out last night and might have had the heat on??? I was sweating like it was August again with 100% humidity! not fun.

And yes. I did get sushi. I know a lot of people are refueling with Chocolate Milk after their runs… But I would like to end my runs refueling with sushi. I think it could catch on.

Tonight Ryan and I are making dinner. We’re not sure what we’re going to make yet – but we’ve decided it has to be something we’ve never cooked before… So things might get a little interesting. Good thing I’m such an awesome cook 😉

Birthday Weekend

My birthday weekend was awesome!

The Runners World Event was so cool! Bart Yasso, Amby Burfoot, Dean Karnazes, Mary Wittenberg and many more famous runners were there! I was in heaven! Oh, and the food was amazing. One word – SUSHI.

Then it was Saturday. Blogger meet-up at 16 Handles! It was so much fun and Janae was super cute and nice! I think I convinced her to run the Red Rock half with me 🙂

After spending hours talking about running, life and food it was time for my birthday dinner with Ryan. We went to Motorino for pizza. It’s my all time favorite! So good. We ordered the spicy pepperoni pizza and the special for the night, pizza with prosciutto. Both were amazing.

Even though we were super full, we (just me) had to get ice cream. We went to Big Gay Ice Cream Shop. They make the best, most unique cones ever. Vanilla ice cream with dulce de leche, dipped in chocolate with bits of pretzel. Yes please.

Oh, and then this happened. When we got back to Ryan’s apartment all my friends were there! Ryan had thrown me a surprise birthday party!!! It was so fun and I had no idea!

And the Best Boyfriend Award goes to…

And then it was Sunday, Marathon day and my birthday! We woke up and headed to First Avenue. Around mile 17. It was so much fun to be in the crowd cheering. There was even a TV set up to watch the finish line!

I tried looking for HungryRunnerGirl and SkinnyRunner but never saw them running…

I cannot wait to run New York next year!

But I did get to celebrate with them on their awesome accomplishment at Crumbs after the race!!! Both are so nice and funny!

And then. This morning. I came into work and saw this:

Meb signed a copy of our magazine for me!!!!!!! I never got to meet him but now I have a signed copy from him!!!! That was the best way to end my birthday weekend. Hands down.

Perfect date night

Last night was the perfect “date night”. Ryan treated me to dinner out as a congratulations you’ve made it to marathon weekend!!! Did I tell you he’s coming to Oregon too???? So exciting!

We walked around my neighborhood, had beer, burgers and fries at a little pub, stopped at the grocery store for sundae supplies, and then watched the Yankees finally beat the Tigers.

To combat our unbelievably good dinner and ice cream sundaes last night – I need to try to eat a little healthier!

I had this with breakfast this morning. I love it. It’s super tasty and super good for you. One problem. It’s about $4 a bottle…

I have a little baby run tonight – 2 miles!

Happy Friday! Well… It’s Friday for me! I’m off to Oregon tomorrow!! I’m sorry it’s only Wednesday for the rest of the world…

Adding another to the list

Last night was really nice and relaxing. We played with the puppy at the dog park, enjoyed awesome sandwiches from one of our favorite delis, and watched some TV. I couldn’t have asked for a better Wednesday night. Did anyone else watch the drama in baseball unfold???

It’s was also fun to walk the couple blocks to the subway station with Ryan this morning. A lot more fun than walking to the subway alone! (I don’t know why our eyes are almost closed… I guess we were still sleepy??)

Tonight I’m planning on a little run in Central Park. I’m hoping the rain stays away and the humidity leaves town (forever)

Sometimes I get so nervous/excited about the marathon that I get all antsy and jittery. It might also be the coffee… Maybe I should hold off on the coffee until after the race. That might help. I even had a dream about my trip to Oregon last night! It wasn’t about the race, though. It was me and my whole family at dinner. I think I’m just as excited to see them as running the marathon 🙂 And seeing Kristen my running buddy and all my friends! There is so much to be excited about! Ahhh!

I have other news! I know I haven’t run Portland yet but I’ve picked out my next race! I’m going to run the Red Rock Canyon half marathon!!! It’s March 10th and I’m pretty darn excited. The photos are amazing.

The race and hotel I will be staying at is 20 minutes outside of Las Vegas. The hotel looks awesome and really pretty.

The course is pretty hilly and I’m up for the challenge! SkinnyRunner ran the marathon course last year and you can read her review HERE. Reading her review made me want to sign-up 🙂

What races are you training for?

Anyone else running Red Rock with me?

Waiting on fall

My legs were still pretty sore this morning so I hit the elliptical for 45 minutes. No over training here!

I’m hoping to run a solid 5-6 miles tomorrow and then eight on Sunday. This tapering thing is kinda strange. No double-digit runs? Until the marathon??? Whatttt??? Exciting but scary all at the same time!

What else is going on?? Well, I’m still waiting for fall to arrive here in New York. All I want to do is order a Pumpkin Spice latte and walk around in the crisp, cool fall air. Is that too much to ask!?

It’s still humid. And I still walked to work this morning! Surprising. And guess what? I’m a more relaxed person. I’ve already been to the gym and walked almost two miles. All before 9am! That is pretty awesome!

Tonight I’m having a date night with Ryan (and Bailey the puppy). That’s exciting! Dog park, dinner and a movie. I couldn’t ask for anything better! (frozen yogurt trip???)

This week is speeding by and soon I’ll be waking up the morning of the marathon! Craziness!

Anyone else change something small in their lives and seeing great things happening??
