Two things –
My cat will not sleep at night. This whole week I’ve been woken up countless times and today I’m really feeling it. That and I was up at 5:40am for a 6 1/2 mile run with my friend from the Flyers. Both combined means I’ll be drinking lots and lots of coffee today.
I tried playing with her last night before bed to get her tired… Didn’t work. I guess she needs more play time?
What I’m reading:
I started this book last night. I’m only about 20 pages in so I don’t know yet if I like it or not. But I do like how he writes. Just free flowing thoughts – like he’s in conversation with you. I thought this would be a good pick since I’m one month away from the Eugene Marathon. (!!!!!)
Volunteering tonight, Pure Barre tomorrow, run Friday morning than partying it up this weekend. (more about this weekend later)

I finally got a picture of Lexi sleeping all weird with her arms (legs? paws?) stretched out!
And this is a new one – paws crossed… So dainty!
Last night I ran 4.5 miles in Central Park. I’m loving this fall weather. Its perfect running weather! 20 miler on Sunday! Then its taper time 🙂
I never had a cat before I adopted Lexi so I really didn’t know what I was getting into… I find it so funny/weird that she sleeps with her arms straight out… Do cats normally sleep like that??? I’m going to take a photo and show you guys.
Last night I ran for the first time in a while! It was great! I watched the Kardashians and got three miles in. Tonight I’m headed to Pure Barre (just a little obsessed) and tomorrow I’ll be running again.
Sunday I’m running the Staten Island half marathon and I’m really excited for two reasons:
1) I’ve never been to Staten Island
2) I need a good long run!
Oh, and on my walk to work Monday I saw Blake Lively and Ed Westwick filming Gossip Girl. I think that makes me a little famous… Mr. Westwick and I shared a look. I’m VERY happy I had my sunglasses on. I was that person saying to themselves – “those people look familiar..” as I keep staring…”oh that guy is Ed Westwick”… “And we’re both looking at each other… maybe I should look away now??” It wasn’t awkward at all…
I’ve been up since 6:30am… I wish I could say it was because I went for a run this morning. But no, I had to take Lexi to The Cat Practice, where I’m boarding her. I like to call it “Kitty Summer Camp”… I’m really nervous – I’ve never boarded her before and she hasn’t been around other cats since I adopted her at 8 weeks! I hope she does okay and doesn’t hate me when I get back from vacation!
Vacation time is almost here! Ryan and I just have to get through today and then we’re off to the West Coast at 7am! We’re going to be in Seattle for a couple of days and then my parents are going to come up and pick us up (from the Mariners game) and we’ll all head to Oregon. I cannot wait for this trip!!! We have been planning it forever! Ryan has never been to Seattle so there will be lots of sight seeing and we’re going to the Dave Matthews concert at the Gorge!
How awesome does this look!? AMAZING! We’ll be there Friday! I also can’t wait for my annual pool party at my parent’s house, wine tasting with my family! And my friend Abby’s wedding! (We have a lot planned… It’s going to be a VERY BUSY TRIP!)

Random things this week –
Does running skirts make anyone else feel awkward or unsure of themselves??? SkinnyRunner – Rocks them all the time and she looks super cute. For some reason they make me nervous.
I bought this Lululemon running skirt awhile ago and just wore it to the gym for the first time on Tuesday. It’s really cute and comfortable but I don’t know – I’m running in a skirt… Anyone else feel like this? Or is it just me?
I made this pasta last night and it was sooo good and sooo easy. There’s four ingredients. Loved it. And will probably make it again tonight. yum.
Whenever I stretch Lexi has to be right next to me. She licks my face and tries to snuggle as close as possible. This only happens when I’m stretching though… I don’t get it.
And it makes stretching very difficult.
I’m at 11 miles (plus an hour of cross-training on the elliptical) so far this week. I have a big run on Sunday – 16 miles of pacing for the NYRR!
Guess who I saw running in Central Park Saturday morning????
Hoda Kotb! My first ever celebrity sighting in Central Park! She’s a runner too, which is pretty cool.
After my 5 1/2 miler I had to quickly get ready for a full day of fun!
Ryan’s family came into the city to visit so we did some fun touristy stuff. We visited The Highline which was awesome!
The weather was perfect and the views were fabulous.
We then made our way to the Beer Garden which is under The Standard Hotel. I think the giant pretzel was my favorite 🙂
Sunday was a lazy/errand day for me. I also baked cornbread! My first baking attempt in my new apartment… I knoww…. Why wait so long to bake!? Well, our oven is really weird and I kind of hate it… But the cornbread turned out great and so did the chili!
The perfect Sunday dinner.
Lexi the cat and I watched Avator on Sunday. I had heard mixed reviews about the movie, but I liked it.
Have you ever seen a celebrity while running??? Hoda was my first sighting!
Have you seen Avator?? I thought it was pretty good.
Today has been great! I slept until 9am, read, enjoyed a NAKED Juice called Green Machine which is unbelievably good! Go try it! It has spinach in it! Super healthy. Did you know October is National Spinach Lover Month???
Another food item that I’m now addicted to. POP CHIPS. They are soooooo good. Go out and buy those too. You are welcome.
What made today wonderful, besides the green juice and pop chips at lunch… Getting my first PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE of the season! Woot! Woot! One bad thing – $4.30 for a TALL?! Really Starbucks????
After lunch, while enjoying my latte I was reading and this little one kept laying on my book. She does this all the time and when I’m using my laptop. I guess she wants to be right in the action??
Later on I hit the gym. I was all caffeined-up so I was excited to get running. I ran a solid 4.5 miles increasing my speed. I kept imagining the finish line at the marathon 🙂
After the gym guess what was waiting for me in our mailbox???? The NOVEMBER issue of Runner’s World!
I probably won’t be able to save it for the plane ride…
