Happy Monday! I’m tired so I don’t know if I would say happy Monday… so… Monday! How’s that?
Here’s some pictures from this weekend’s race:
Yes, I’m in my office… on a Sunday. But I just have to walk across the street to Central Park where the race was!
It was literally 10 guys to every 1 woman… This was a points race for the Men’s Teams in NYC and also was the “Father’s Day Run” so there were hardly any women… This is probably why I got 13th in my age group. (Any single girl out there should make a note and sign up for this race next year.)
Many people thought the weather was perfect out… Yes, I agree for a picnic and lounging in the park. I was dying from the heat. I didn’t stop for water during the race but did run through this sprinkler thing they had set up. That was a life saver. I don’t know, I’m happy I ran the race but I think I was just tired as a whole. I had just raced the weekend before. I’m glad I don’t have another race for a while. I’m almost done with my 9 +1 !!!
I have tonight off which I’m excited about. My legs need a break!
My 5 mile run was completed last night. I know, that’s not what my training plan says. But this upcoming week is going to be busy/crazy so I’m mixing it up a little bit so I can get all my runs in.
I felt great running on the treadmill and I didn’t get bored. Since the weather has cooled off here the gym wasn’t horrible either so I was a happy camper. I even had time to watch Part 1: Reunion of The Real Housewives of Orange County… I know.. But it’s just too ridiculous!!!
Oh, and I have another race this weekend! When I signed up it was called the NYRR 5-Mile Father’s Day Run, now, for some reason it’s called the Portugal Run??? I have no idea why… But I’ll be running the race for my Dad. He’s in Oregon so we won’t be able to celebrate Father’s Day together.
Race photos from the NYRR 10K Mini below!!!
I’m still pale as ever…
Saturday morning I had the pleasure of waking up at 5am…
I caught the 6am train into the city which gave me enough time to get to my office, change, warm up and get to the starting line with 20 minutes to spare.
I wore my running “mini” skirt just for this race!
For some reason I was in the FIRST CORRAL… Meaning I was with super fast runners. I was a little intimidated. The world-class runners were right in front of us! So cool!
I loved the course! It started in Columbus Circle and we ran along side Central Park for a mile until cutting in to the park for the remainder of the race. There were some hilly parts, but I have been training in Central Park so there weren’t any surprises.
The best part of the race was running along side Mary Wittenberg, NYRR President and Jack Waitz, Grete Waitz’s husband who was running in her honor. This year was the 40th Anniversary of the race and the race was also honoring Grete Waitz who recently died of cancer and who had won the race five times.
I loved this race and will definitely run it again next year. The whole morning was about empowering women and all the running accomplishments that women have had throughout the decades. Loved it!
Oh, and you’re probably wondering if I achieved my goal???
YES I DID!!! I ran the 10K Mini in 48:46!!! 7:50 pace!!
By 6:15am I had run 4 miles. It was super hard to get myself out of bed but I knew if I didn’t run this morning I wouldn’t run at all. (That’s what happened yesterday) With that in my mind I got out of bed, threw my running stuff on and hit the gym.
Watching the news really helps to pass the time in the morning and I get to catch up on what’s going on in the world… well, sort of… Basically they repeat weather, traffic and the leading news headline over and over but at least I got some important information! Like, today is Les Paul’s birthday. He would be 96 today. There’s your fun fact for today.
It was super hot in the gym – it’s suppose to get up to 97 today… Yes, with humidity… my fav.
On Saturday I’m running in the NYRR New York Mini 10K. This year’s race is honoring Grete Waitz. There will be many Elite/World famous runners at this race which makes me excited and nervous. I already have my outfit picked out and ready 🙂
Enjoy your Thursday!
This is the fastest I’ve ever run in my life.
3 miles. 22 minutes = 7:20 pace!!!! Whaatttttt!??! I was 11th in my age group 🙂
ME! The girl who hated running ONE MILE! Someone pinch me!
The race wasn’t as organized as other NYRR races but we still had a blast. The rain held off and the five us (out of the seven who signed up) ran our butts off!
One of my friends took some pictures of us pre and post race so I’ll post them once I get them. Above is the only picture I took. I wanted to capture the chaos before the race began.
Ryan made me a wonderful post race dinner of tortellini and homemade garlic bread. It was delicious!
I’m exhausted from the past weekend, work, and the race… I’m probably not going to run tonight…
Work has been so busy today! So this is going to be short –
Tonight I’ll be running in the AHA Wall Street 3 Mile Run with some friends! It’s not raining right now and I really hope it doesn’t start up! Because I know if one raindrop hits the ground they’ll cancel on me!!
Here’s the race route 🙂
I was photographed again at the Japan Run for Hope Race! Yesss!!!
Please Notice: NO sunglasses. For those of you don’t seem to care for their size… (RYAN SMITH) I left them in my bag. Please also take note that yes, those are my legs, I am not wearing white tights.
The finish line… hmmm… What to say… This is where I really felt those three beers I drank the night before. Not good, not good… At least I PR’d!!!
On tonight’s agenda: Run in Central Park 🙂
