This weekend Ryan and I had a staycation and got a lot of errands done.
We hit up Costco – my favorite place, Ryan’s least favorite. I don’t know why I love Costco so much, but I do.
One thing that is difficult is getting our groceries back to our apartment… We use a cart but one time we forgot it and it was the longest, arm killing walk Ryan and I have ever had. Living in New York City is so different from living in a suburban town.
I miss driving places and not worrying if I’ll be able to carry everything I buy back home. Ryan’s good at “driving” the cart though, so that’s a plus.
After grocery shopping Ryan wanted to workout and I convinced him to try one of my Pure Barre DVDS with me. He now realizes how hard Pure Barre is and why I’m so tired when I get back from the classes. I’m pretty sure he’s still sore today.
Dinner was another amazing meal made by Ryan. He is so good at cooking, it’s crazy. He made chicken parm with egg pasta and sautéed spinach. As we ate dinner we watched the Oregon Ducks game. (they won, of course!!!)
It was the perfect low key night before my Sunday long run.
Okay. It’s official.
I’m addicted to Pure Barre… If I could go every day I would. Work and other commitments just get in the way. Oh, and I also have to keep up my running! Oops.. I didn’t run once last week.
I’ve been working on a ‘Catie’s 26th Year To Do List’
Do you know how difficult it is to come up with 26 things. I need eight more ‘to dos’…
Anyone have any good ideas? I have stuff on my list like – read 26 books – take a cooking class – go to a concert – travel outside of the US.
That kind of stuff.
I never had a cat before I adopted Lexi so I really didn’t know what I was getting into… I find it so funny/weird that she sleeps with her arms straight out… Do cats normally sleep like that??? I’m going to take a photo and show you guys.
Last night I ran for the first time in a while! It was great! I watched the Kardashians and got three miles in. Tonight I’m headed to Pure Barre (just a little obsessed) and tomorrow I’ll be running again.
Sunday I’m running the Staten Island half marathon and I’m really excited for two reasons:
1) I’ve never been to Staten Island
2) I need a good long run!
Oh, and on my walk to work Monday I saw Blake Lively and Ed Westwick filming Gossip Girl. I think that makes me a little famous… Mr. Westwick and I shared a look. I’m VERY happy I had my sunglasses on. I was that person saying to themselves – “those people look familiar..” as I keep staring…”oh that guy is Ed Westwick”… “And we’re both looking at each other… maybe I should look away now??” It wasn’t awkward at all…
This Sunday I’m running 20 miles. Oh, and I’m a pacer for it too… And I haven’t run at all this week. You, know… because I had a cold…
I am happy to report that I’ve beat the cold and I’m all better! But I’m interested to see how these 20 miles go on Sunday. I’m nervous!
What’s really cool about the run on Sunday is that we’re going to run part of the NYC Marathon course! This will definitely be helpful during the race.
Tonight I’m heading back to Pure Barre! This I’m excited about! I love the class! The workout is super hard and your legs are like jell-o afterwards but I LOVE IT. It’s totally different from running and it reminds me of being back on dance team in high school 🙂
I’ll leave you with this picture of me and my friend Marc. I paced him in the Race for the Cure 5k. We beat his goal time by almost two minutes!!!
I have a cold. This is horrible timing.
Last week I took off from running. I called it my Vacation Week. It was fun, I was social – I got other things done – there’s way more going on in life than running, you know? I ran once – 5.5 miles.
I said I’m going to come back strong next week! Really get my runs in and make them count.
I started off the week great! Monday night – cross-training! I took my first Pure Barre class and it was awesome!
And then I woke up Tuesday with a sore throat… and then I woke up today with a cold. LAME.
I didn’t run last night and I’m probably not going to run tonight…
AND Sunday I’m suppose to pace lead 20 miles with the Flyers! Talk about bad timing, huh?
Here’s my plan to get better by Sunday – DayQuil. Tons of water. Emergen-C. NyQuil. Lots of sleep. Speedy recovery! fingers crossed.

I’m so excited! Remember how I told you about that pop up workout class I took after the FITNESS 4 mile race last weekend???
Well, yesterday on GILT (web site with deals and sales) Pure Barre NYC was on it and the classes were like half off!! I bought the ten pack of classes and I’m going to take my first class next Monday!
This will be great cross training and will help with my lack of stretching and maybe I’ll get some arm muscles! 🙂
I haven’t run yet this week… I did go on the elliptical last night for 30 minutes and did a bunch of weights. Maybe tonight I’ll run???
