This week has been going really well. I’ve run every day this week and plan to do a long run on Saturday morning. Tuesday night I got down to a 7 min mile pace on the treadmill which was very exciting! I know Red Rock is hilly, so I’ve also been using the incline function on the treadmill to simulate hills 🙂 I’m hoping all this work is going to make the half-marathon not that bad… Fingers crossed!
Tonight I’m going to Total Body Conditioning (great cross training!) and I’ll run a little bit before the class.
This week has been pretty uneventful. I don’t really have anything to report. I’ve just been working and working out. And that’s about it. I’ve been in the “zone” with running though, which is awesome. I’ve been to the gym every day this week and all my runs have felt great. Total Body Conditioning last night was awesome, as always.
I’m excited for the Manhattan Half on the January 21st. Hopefully it doesn’t rain or snow. The course is two laps of the 6 mile loop and a little bit more. I’m not that excited about it, but I will have an advantage since I’ve been running that loop for a year now. It’ll be like home 🙂
Anyone doing anything fun during the three day weekend??
I’m planning to see a lot of friends and get a solid long run in.
I’m also trying to plan a little trip to St. Maarten at the end of August. Has anyone been there??? Any recommendations???
Wouldn’t you love to be there right now?????
Since I don’t have a camera I rely on my friends to take pictures at different events we go to… (Some times they lose their cameras and then everyone is out of luck :-() Not the best planning on my part, but here are some photos from New Year’s Eve!
So. Yesterday I signed up for the Tone it Up Plan. I have been reading about the plan for about a month now and I finally caved in and bought the plan after reading great reviews on yet another blog. I love how motivated the trainers Karena and Katrina (below) are and their workouts are great! They also have a great outlook on healthy eating (One of my 2012 goals).
After my three mile run (and before Total Body Conditioning Class which might have been the most difficult class I’ve ever been to – I’m so sore today!!) last night I went to the grocery store and stocked up on some of TIU must have items. Quinoa was one of their faves.
I had never had it before and might have been a little nervous… I mixed the quinoa with black beans and garbanzo beans and added some sautéed spinach to the mix. AND IT WAS REALLY GOOD!!! And super filling. Also, by following the directions, I made a bunch – which I can eat over the next few days and test out some different food items in it.
I’m loving all the recipes in the Tone it Up Plan and I can’t wait to get cooking and try out all the different TIU Workouts!
Look at all that healthy food. Even though we have a couple of days until the new year I decided to start off on the right foot. Why wait until 2012?!
Last night I did a three mile run and went to total body conditioning class. Between my run and the class I had a little over an hour to grocery shop and eat. When I went to the store I was on a mission – HEALTHY FOODS ONLY. And I did it!
I felt great last night and this morning. What you eat really does effect how you feel! Saturday I’m running ten miles with my friend Ashley and then it’s New Years party time! Two of my friends from home (Oregon) will be in town and a bunch of us are going out! Very fun 🙂
Anyone already make some New Year’s resolutions??? I’ve only made one so far – healthy eating!
What are you doing for New Years? We’re going to Katra!!!
Guys. I’m one step closer to opening up my own restaurant… We not only made an awesome dinner, but we ALSO cooked for Ryan’s potluck lunch event that’s today.
For his work event we made Jalapeno Cream Cheese Poppers. Recipe – Here.
They were super easy to make and DELICIOUS. We only had one each since he had to bring them to work… BUT we are planning to make them again and again and again. They were that good.
As we cooked we enjoyed some great wine that my parents had sent me. It was the best Zinfandel I’ve ever had. Thanks Mom and Dad!
Then it was on to the main event. Baked eggs in potato bowls. All you do is bake a potato, scoop out the middle, crack on egg in it and put all the toppings you want in it – put it in the oven for 20 minutes. Super easy.
We used bacon, cheese, and jalapenos.
Click here for the recipe! I’m telling you. They were sooo good! And you still have room for dessert 🙂
The more cheese the better.
You can’t forget the hot sauce and ranch dressing…
So I think our cooking adventures last night went really well! Both recipes were found on Pinterest – of course! I might be a little addicted…
Tonight – Run a little bit and then Total Body Conditioning class with Heather!!! Man, I’m going to be sore tomorrow.
Hey, it got cold here in New York. Like 32 degrees at night cold… Oh and windy too. It’s really fun when you walk 20+ blocks to meet your friend for Total Body Conditioning class…
BUT. The class was awesome! My arms and legs are SORE today. And I love it. I got to the gym early and did a quick 2 mile run before class. The last .80 I ran on a 1.0% incline. It makes running on the treadmill a lot more fun. 😉
Today at 12pm registration for the Manhattan Half Marathon opens… It sells out in like 2 minutes so I’m crossing my fingers I get in. Wish me luck? Join me?
I have no idea what my workout plan is for tonight. You’ll just have to wait in suspense I guess.
I’m telling you. Panini’s and soup are the BEST fall/winter dinner.
I mean. Look at that bad boy… YUM.
Grilled to perfection. And the tomato soup. Super easy. There are like four ingredients! This is the blog I got the recipe from. She’s awesome and she lives in New York!
Tonight I’m going to my first ever Total Body Conditioning class with my friend Jackie! I’m pretty excited but nervous. My arms are not very strong at all and I’ve never really gone to a class with weights… I’m prepared to be sore tomorrow!
Remember how I talked about loving BIC Bands??? Well, SkinnyRunner is having a giveaway!!! Click here to enter!
Planning your next training program!!! Yesterday I sat down, found a half-marathon intermediate training program and figured out when I really need to start getting my butt in gear again.
Writing out my training plan made me all the more excited for Red Rock. The plan I found not only emphasizes mileage but also strength training. Something I have not been doing at all. I found a class at my gym called Total Body Conditioning. This class uses weights and bodybars that “promotes muscular endurance, flexibility and body alignment.” Starting December I’ll be taking that class twice a week.
I’m such a planner and now that I have a PLAN, I want to run and want to see my efforts pay off.
In other news:
The Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center is being set up as we speak!!!!
