Including a Pig

This past weekend was a no running weekend. It was a nice break and also much needed.
I could feel my body saying – Okayyy… Can we have a little break now??
Spending the weekend in New Jersey was just what I needed. Great food, Ryan, Bailey and lots of relaxing.
image-1On Sunday we took Bailey to a park by Ryan’s parents house and went for a little hike. I’m pretty sure she’s the most photogenic dog around…

There’s also an area with rescued animals. Bailey made lots ofnew friends, including a pig.

No running happened last night.
I was still in the relaxing mood so I watched a movie, knitted and called my parents to say hi. Our conversations always last about an hour so I didn’t turn off the light until 10:15pm… Not the best when your alarm clock goes off at 5:50am and you’re running 5 1/2 miles before 7:15am… That’s what’s coffee is for, right?
I love when you’re able to fit everything in, even if you’re a little tired.

Crazy Healthy

This morning I got out of bed and met Nicole for our weekly morning run. It was at little tough to get out of bed and my legs felt heavy, but we ran 5 1/2 miles. I guess I’m still recuperating from the race.

I’ve been feeling like I may be getting a sore throat this week so I’ve been taking it easy. I hate being sick and when I feel like I might be getting sick I go crazy healthy. So I’ve been visiting the Juice Press and drinking the Ginger Fireball once a day for the past three days. This drink helps kills the germs/cold/flu virus and gives your body the stuff it needs to win over the germs.

Last night I also bought their nori “sushi”, which is all vegetables – no fish and a smoothie. It was the perfect dinner after Pure Barre class and feeling not 100%.
This morning I had the raw oatmeal for breakfast. It’s amazing and I might be addicted to it now… The Ginger Fireball drink… not so much. It’s so hot! It has lemon and orange juice, cayenne extract and oil of oregano. It will knock any cold right out of you!
This weekend I’m going to New Jersey to hangout with Ryan and I’m going to take it easy with my training. I want to come back next week feeling great!

The Soup… Not So Much…

This week has flown by. I guess that’s what happens when you have a three day weekend and something planned every day.
Tuesday I went to Pure Barre, Wednesday I ran 6.5 miles with my friend Nicole in the morning and then Ryan came over after work to try my soup and pear cake. The cake was a hit – the soup, not so much…
(I probably won’t make it again)
We also watched The Town. I thought it was good. I was impressed by Blake Lively’s acting – not so impressed by Ben Affleck trying to have a Boston accent…

Tonight is a Pure Barre night and then I’m going for a run in the morning again with Nicole. I’m loving these early morning Central Park runs 🙂

Anyone else a morning workout person??? I used to hate it!

Two Dates on Valentine’s Day

First off Happy Valentine’s Day!
Make sure to eat some chocolate today!

I’ve already been on one date today. A running date 🙂 I met up with my friend Nicole, who is also a New York Flyer, for an early morning run in Central Park. We had a great 6.5 mile run and it flew by! We talked the whole time. I love when that happens! I also LOVE making running dates. I’ll never cancel and I always run farther with another person. It’s a win – win!

My second date is with Ryan tonight. We’re going to grab a quick dinner (I’m hoping for Chipotle) and then see Silver Linings Playbook. I love going to the movies. The popcorn is so good! And then dessert – chocolate dipped strawberries. I made them last night. I even got creative with a couple of them!
I can’t wait!

Lots to Share

Since the start of the year I’ve made it a goal to try to beat my monthly miles from last year. February 2011 was the first month that I started using Dailymile – a site that tracks your workouts. Last February I logged 38 miles. As of today I’m at 37 miles! I’m a competitive person so I know I’m going to try my hardest to beat each month!

This weekend was really fun. I celebrated another friend of mine’s birthday (we just keep getting older!!) and the rest of the weekend was spent relaxing, cleaning and organizing.

(These pictures were taken with my new camera!!!)

Oh! And I found out my parents are coming to cheer me on at the Red Rock half-marathon!!! This was such a wonderful surprise!!! Now I have the best cheer squad! My friend Sarah and her boyfriend and my Mom and Dad. It’s going to be the best weekend ever!

Since I did not get my ten miler in on Sunday I woke up extra early today (5:15am) and hit the treadmill. Ten miles complete by 7:05am 🙂 Best Monday workout ever! I was a sweaty mess. I really don’t know how some girls at the gym look cute when they are working out. My face gets so red. It really perplexes me… I guess they aren’t running like a crazy person on the treadmill.

Oh and this happened.

YUM. Have you ever been to The Soft Serve Yogurt Company??? If not. YOU SHOULD. Ryan and I got one of their special sundaes and it was magical. It had banana soft serve, bananas, chocolate chips, pretzel bites, and peanut butter!

Happy Monday! I have a feeling I’m going to be in bed verrry early tonight!!! And Happy Early Valentine’s Day ❤

Blast from the past

My Dad found these photos the other day and e-mailed them to me. I just had to post them.

I’m pretty sure that blue and white dress is Hanna Anderson and we’re at the Rose Garden. (Am I right Mom or Dad??)

I think this bunny one is my favorite… haha. I’m not sure if this was Halloween or a school show.  I’m rocking it though.

Totally sassy here… Those Barbie skates…. too cool haha I knew how to pose too! woah.

I ran four miles this morning! It felt great to get my workout done before the day really got started. Click also helped give me some extra energy this morning. I did not want to get out of bed. I’m so happy I did! One less thing to check off today’s list.

Monday

Good Morning! Happy Monday! Can you believe this is the last week in October??? I feel like just a week ago I was nervously waiting to run the Portland Marathon! Now it’s been almost a month! Time flies..

This morning I hit the gym for a 3 mile run. I rocked one of my Portland Marathon shirts and felt pretty cool. The sleeves are a little long so I just tucked them into my sports bar and made a tank top. Though I was feeling pretty cool wearing (total nerd) my marathon shirt I totally forgot my i-pod so I couldn’t watch tv or listen to music… Total FAIL. But you know what? It wasn’t that bad… I just ran and thought about my busy schedule for this week.

What’s everyone being for Halloween??? I bought my costume last week. I’m going to be a lady bug. It was the least slutty costume at the store… My wings even light up!

Tomorrow we’re taking Bailey to her first day of doggie day care… For some reason I’m nervous!!! It’s like her first day of school or something. They have a video camera so Ryan and I can see her playing with the other dogs while we’re at work. So cool!
